If you’re searching for an Airbnb in Kissimmee, FL, you’re looking for something quiet, cozy, and maybe a little off the beaten path.
You may even be like us and want something that is not in the middle of the Orlando theme park chaos.
We recently found exactly that, but here’s the twist: it wasn’t actually an Airbnb. It was better.

We stayed at Tropical Palms Resort, a tucked-away tiny house community in Kissimmee that gave us the kind of Airbnb-style experience we love—privacy, charm, and zero hotel vibes—without using the Airbnb platform at all.
Like an Airbnb in Kissimmee, FL, But Better!
While this spot isn’t listed on Airbnb, it absolutely fits the same criteria people are looking for: a stand-alone place, space to spread out, and the freedom to make it your own during your stay.
The resort is a short drive from Orlando but far enough away to feel like you’ve truly escaped the crowds.

We were drawn to Tropical Palms because we wanted something with character—no overpriced resort, no hotel hallways, and no waiting in line for the elevator.
Our Tiny House Stay at Tropical Palms
For a few days, our home was a sunshine yellow, cozy, park model-style tiny house. Even with the small footprint, it had:
- Two small bedrooms
- A loft space (which we used as a reading + work nook)
- A full kitchen and bathroom
- A surprisingly roomy living area with everything we needed

It felt intentional and peaceful, which is exactly what we needed.
Palm trees surrounded us, we had our own space to relax, and we appreciated how much more grounded it felt than a traditional rental or hotel stay.
The tiny homes and much of the community had a Bahamian Island sort of feel, but with more shade due to the tropical plants, palms, and other shade trees.
Amenities at Tropical Palms Resort
This isn’t just a tiny house lot with pretty palm trees surrounding it. The property itself is tucked away without being hidden.
Tropical Palms has community amenities that elevate the experience—but still simple.

- Miniature golf is our fave, and they have it!
- The swimming pool is pretty great! They really pay attention to it and give it an upscale vibe. No Cheetos in the pool at Tropical Palms.
- Fitness center- full disclosure, we didn’t use it.
- Dog park and pet-friendly vibes throughout! (Rue + Bea gave it 5 stars!)
- Shuffleboard, volleyball, and bocci ball
- Laundry facilities are available if you are making a longer stay.
- Small convenience store for some basic needs if you want to remain in the property.
They also welcome RVs and tent camping, so it truly feels like a blend of cozy vacation living and low-key campground charm.
We took many walks around Tropical Palms, and it always felt quiet, even amongst people enjoying themselves with the various activities.
Who This Spot Is Perfect For
This is a great fit for:
- Couples looking for a quiet escape
- Digital nomads who want a short-term setup with a little personality
- Anyone road-tripping through Florida who wants a non-hotel stay
- People who like the idea of an Airbnb—but would prefer more of a community feel
Of course, it seemed great for families, too, but that’s not our vibe, which says a lot. There were families and various group dynamics, and it didn’t feel like we were at or near Disney.

It was a win!
We also loved how quiet and easy it was to settle into our own rhythm without being boxed into a hotel schedule or surrounded by tourist chaos.
Our Thoughts on This Airbnb Alternative
Tropical Palms Resort is a hidden gem if you’re looking for an Airbnb in Kissimmee, FL, but are open to something a little different.

It gave us everything we usually look for in a short-term stay—comfort, privacy, charm—but in a setting that felt even more relaxing than a typical rental.
We’d stay here again in a heartbeat, especially during spring or fall when the Florida weather is ideal and the pace feels even slower.
This place reminded us why we love tiny house living and continually seek out the places that don’t appear first in the algorithm.

We cannot wait to hear how your visit goes, and if you are looking for things to do in and around Orlando that are not Disney-related, you may want to check out our blog post on that very topic.

FAQs | Frequently Asked Questions
You can book just the tiny houses—no RV required. They also offer RV and tent camping spots, but if you’re only interested in the tiny house experience, that’s available on its own.
Absolutely. We used the loft space as a reading and work nook, and it was perfect for getting things done without distraction. The setting was quiet, and the Wi-Fi was reliable during our stay. If you want to have a small group retreat, book a few of the tiny houses together for your own little private retreat!
Yes, most have small porches or patios. Ours had space to sit outside under the palm trees, which made morning coffee and evening downtime even better. It added to the charm and gave us that cozy, home-away-from-home feeling.
