We knew we had picked the right spot from the moment we arrived. The lodge had all the rustic charm of a cabin but with the modern comforts we love, making it the ideal balance between cozy and convenient.
If Hygge had a home in Maryland, Cove Creek Lodge would be its headquarters.

What We Loved About Cove Creek Lodge
- Spacious + Stylish Accommodations: With high ceilings, warm wood finishes, and tons of natural light, the lodge felt welcoming and airy. No inauthentic fluorescent lighting here. The coziest feels only.
- Perfect Location: Just footsteps away from Deep Creek Lake, we had easy access to snowshoeing on the lake. In other seasons, you will enjoy boating, fishing, and paddleboarding. In the winter, though, Wisp Resort is nearby for skiing and snowboarding.
- Outdoor Fun: We started each morning on the deck with coffee in hand, breathing in the brisk air. We ended our days around the fireplace, savoring the warmth after a cold day of adventuring!
- Pet-Friendly Perks: Rue and Bea were in heaven! There was plenty of space for them to roam, and the pet-friendly accommodations made it easy for us to bring them along on all our adventures.
- Black Antler Lounge: Not only is this a super cozy lounging area, but when the bar is open, you can grab just about any cocktail or adult bevvy you want. You know the Aperol Spritzs were flowing!

Things We Did at Deep Creek Lake
Once we settled in, it was time to explore! Here are some of our favorite activities from the trip:
- Exploring Deep Creek Lake: We snowshoed on the frozen lake, taking in the gorgeous views.
- Hiking at Swallow Falls State Park: The waterfalls here are absolutely breathtaking and made for the perfect morning adventure. Frozen, they are like works of art!
- Winter Adventures at Wisp Resort: Skiing and snow tubing were on our adventure list. It was amazing and so much fun!
- Dining Out + Cooking In: We checked out some of the local restaurants but also loved some of our own small tapas after a day of exploring back at our room in the lodge.
- Relaxing + Recharging: Whether it was unwinding in a hot shower, curling up with a book by the fireplace, or watching the stars from the deck, we felt completely refreshed when we left.
