As a couple of DINKS (double income no kids), we have spent an abundance of time searching for the best getaways for adults. When it comes to cruises, you can do as much or as little as you want, but it can often feel like Disney- screaming kids everywhere, or family fun games that just are not our forte.
We’re not hating on kids. If you have kids and want to have a family vacation, Virgin Voyages is not it. If you are an adult who wants to be surrounded by adults only, well here is your start. When we vacation, we want to vacation, relax, and not have to deal with kids.

Again, we don’t hate kids, but if you are a DINK, you can relate. We love our nieces dearly. When we take our vacation as a couple, we just don’t want them with us.

Look, we don’t care who you are, everyone has had the dream at some point in their life of living like a rock star. Do you know how many songs are called, “Rockstar”? We know of at least 14. With Virgin Voyages, you are treated like a Rockstar.
Even if you don’t splurge for the Virgin Voyages Rockstar Suite, it is still one heck of an experience. No matter where we have been on the ship, we have always been treated like royalty. That isn’t something that one can experience on a regular cruise ship.
2. Commitment To Sustainability
Virgin Voyages understands that every decision made has an impact on our planet’s future. That is why they are committed to minimizing their environmental footprint while still delivering an incredible vacation experience.
They use practices like eliminating single-use plastics, including straws, water bottles, shopping bags, food packaging, stirrers, and takeaway cups. They use tinted windows, LED lighting, and room sensors to use less energy and minimize their carbon footprint. 3. More Restaurants Than You Can Imagine
The food experience aboard a Virgin Voyages Cruise is as beautiful to the eyes as it is to the mouth. There are more than 20 dining options, and we think we have now experienced all of them. Michelin-starred chefs are behind the menus of the restaurants on board.
Some options include al fresco fine dining, upscale Mexican, a pizza parlor, a vegan diner, a Korean BBQ, an Italian trattoria, burgers (including veggie), and a cool place called the Test Kitchen where the staff wears lab coats. It was like a laboratory eating experience, with small portions but plenty of them, sort of like a tapas restaurant but in a fancy science lab. Delish!
When considering the best cruise line for adults, think about a dining experience that is elevated, fun, and has no kid’s menu. That is Virgin Voyages.
4. Did We Mention the Bars?
Ok, while we are on the subject of appeasing our taste buds, let’s talk about the plethora of places you can get a drink. With 12 bars, 13 if you are including Richard’s Rooftop (if you are Rockstar Status, you’re welcome here), there is something for everyone. From the Draught House, the Sip Lounge, and the oh so fun Red Bar in Razzle Dazzle, you must experience the instagrammable drink options!
Would the Virgin Voyages bar atmosphere be as phenomenal if this wasn’t the best cruise line for adults? We think not.
5. Entertainment Options Galore
In addition to all the delicious food and drink options onboard, you can also enjoy a wide range of entertainment options. Whether you are traveling as a couple, friends, or solo traveler, you will be entertained. Our faves are the Drag Shows and a risque but very fun theater performance of sorts called “Never Sleep Alone.” Trust us, when you get onboard, book your space! It fills up fast!
*Note- the last time we were on the ship, we heard that too many people complained about how risque “Never Sleep Alone” was. SMH. So, just ask if it is available if you are interested.
You can often find yourself sitting by the pool, and suddenly being serenaded by a musician. Live music all day, and other options like an “Instagramable Photo Ops” workshop at the test kitchen, or learning how to make various cocktails. There is never a dull moment!
6. Luxurious Cabins
When cruising with Virgin Voyages, you can expect nothing short of the best in terms of luxury and indulgence. Cabins are designed like boutique hotel rooms with sleek styling and modern decor that will make your mouth water. Mood lighting is ready for anything you want to do in your cabin (bow-chicka-bow-wow!)
Even if you don’t have a Rockstar Suite, the Sea Terrace cabin is our fave! Each balcony has a very comfy swing, where you can enjoy the sea breeze any time of day or night. Oh, and did we mention Cabin Eats? You can order food, snacks, or anything you want. We recommend a movie night in your cabin with some popcorn and movie snacks.
7. The Ships
Virgin Voyages currently has four ships— Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady—each designed with comfort, luxury, and world-class entertainment in mind. You will often find yourself looking all around at this Instagram heaven. There are more photo ops on this ship than any we have ever seen!
While we want you to disconnect, make sure you bring your phone with you because (1) The Virgin Voyages’ Sailor app is necessary during your voyage, and (2) You will want to take photos everywhere you go! You’ll never be bored while sailing with Virgin Voyages. These ladies will make sure of it!
The ships are tailored for adults to enjoy their investment, which is another reason we would argue that Virgin Voyages is the best cruise line for being kid-free.
8. The Destinations
You can find a destination and itinerary that you will fall in love with. We know that more is to come, but by going to ports such as Puerto Plata or Roatan in the Caribbean or even European routes, you will find a destination to fall in love with. Richard Branson told Conde Naste, at the beginning of Virgin Voyages, that he’d love to do the Antarctic and Arctic as well. (fingers crossed). Bonus- there is a private beach club in Bimini, only for Virgin Voyages sailors. It is an amazing experience!
With later debarkation and a longer period in ports, Virgin Voyages sets itself apart from the other cruise lines.
9. Scarlet Night
Ok, we had no idea what Scarlet Night was, the first time we cruised with Virgin Voyages. We were told by several of the staff how exciting Scarlet Night was, and that we must wear red. Note to self, bring red! Scarlet Night isn’t just a night. It is a full transformation of the ship for a huge event that takes place aboard the whole ship.
It’s like Club 54 meets the Met Gala. It is exciting, you don’t care what you are doing or what you look like dancing, because everyone is having fun and they don’t care either. If you choose to go out one night, this is it! You can read more about Scarlet Night- All You Need to Know.
10. No Kids.
We’ve harped about that enough, but it is the final, last but certainly not least, reason you should cruise with Virgin Voyages. Really. Go, then thank us later. We promise this is a game changer in the cruise industry.
